Image A few weeks ago the Alpharetta Rotary Club sent boxes of Halloween Candy overseas to our troops.  This week President Bill Weeks received a touching Thank You letter from Margaret Johnson:

Hello Bill,

The generous gift of candy from the Rotary Club was such an overwhelming surprise! I didn't know it was coming, and then when I opened the boxes, I couldn't believe my eyes! That you thought of me here and went to the trouble (I know what is involved in sending packages to APO addresses.) and expense to send them was a little much to take in at the time. Your generosity has made many people here happy: I have parceled it out to some of the local national guards whose comrades had died in a suicide bomber attack the day before, to others here and at the Ministry of Defense (the Afghan version of our Department of Defense), and the children who sell scarves and bracelets outside our gates to support their families; they don't have access to such treats here. I know that Wayne facilitated this kindness; I really appreciate the kindness and generosity of everyone who made it happen. It is so true that little things make such a difference here (not that this was in any way little), and even to those of us who have great support systems back home, connections like these make the difficult parts so much easier to endure. Please pass my thanks onto everyone.

Best,

Margaret
