To the Rotary Club of Alpharetta,

Thanks to you for all the many, many care packages you have sent. They are a testimony to your generosity and care for the troops. Mail, especially mail that includes goodies, are always a warmly welcomed morale booster for me and my soldiers over here. I have been amazed at how many you all have sent. I joke with my parents that the Rotary Club of Alpharetta cares more about me than they do! They know it's a joke, and they too extend their gratitude and thanks. My soldiers occasionally ask me, " Get any more packages from the Rotary Club ,sir? ". They enjoy them as much or more than I do.

Anyways, my men are doing well, in high spirits and are optimistic about the 5 months we have left over here. We have been having a lot of success against the taliban lately. They are definitely on the ropes, and we intend to carry the momentum we have gained on through the final weeks of fighting season here. Just a few days ago, after a stormy days skies had cleared, I heard several cheers and I walked outside to see the distant, large mountains on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border covered in snow. The mountain passes are freezing , rendering them useless to the foreign fighters and weapons /ammo traffickers attempting to cross the porus Pakistan border into Afghanistan. All this to say that things are definitely going well over here, for one side at least.

Again, my soldiers, my parents and I are all incredibly grateful for your generosity, so I can't say thank you enough. I hope this letter of thanks finds you all well.

Sincerely,

2nd Lt. Kevin A'hearn
