Fresh Market Community Service
For many years the Fresh Market in Alpharetta has donated their surplus food (primarily baked goods) to North Fulton Community Charities' (NFCC) food bank. This has been made possible through a long term partnership with the Rotary Club of Alpharetta and its members. At noon each weekday an Alpharetta Rotarian volunteer drives to the Fresh Market, sorts and bags the food items, and delivers them to the NFCC facility. The whole process takes about one and a half hours and is repeated 260 times each year.

While our club is involved in many community projects, this one is unique because more of our 84 members participate in this single project than in any other during the year. The result of this volunteer service is that each year NFCC receives over one hundred thousand dollars worth of food to distribute to needy families in the area.

Lee Doernberg, club coordinator for the effort, says, "During the holidays last December my daughters and I made a delivery. Watching the people taking the product off the shelves about as quickly as we could stock it left quite an impression on all three of us. What a great thing for Fresh Market to provide and a great opportunity for us to serve." Thanks to all the volunteers for providing this consistant avenue of service.
In addition to being a partner in this process, Fresh Market is also a direct sponsor of Alpharetta Rotary and as such, our club is greatful for their support of our many activities.
