Laws of Life winners & Sponsors (l-r) Shirley Adkins (MHS Advisor)), Karen Nolan, Victoria Kessler (runner up), Susan Mason (Director), Bill Hamilton, Emanuel D'Andrea (winner), & Jason Binder (project coordinator)

Alpharetta Rotary conducted its first Laws of Life essay contest at the suggestion of Secretary Karen Nolan. Our program was coordinated by Jason Binder with Milton High School teacher/advisor Shirley Adkins. Over 200 essays from Milton students were evaluated by Jason and Bill Hamilton resulting in one winner and three runners up. Georgia Laws of Life Director, Susan Mason, was on hand as two of the winners presented their essays to the club and received their awards.

Since its inception ten years ago, Georgia Laws of Life has generated over 300,000 essay entries. Three years ago Rotary districts 6900, 6910, and 6920 assumed joint oversight of the program with all board members being Rotarians. While there are Laws of Life programs all over the world, the Georgia program is the largest in the United States and the second largest in the world according to Director Mason. Thanks to Karen, Jason, and Bill for bringing this new program to our Club.
