There's a woman in my office who has a small white board outside her desk where she will display a variety of quotes.  Some of them are funny, some insightful, a few make you scratch your head for a while – especially if you don't take the time to slow down and read them.  A quote she had last week caught my eye, "Don't cry that it's over, smile that it happened – Dr. Seuss"

I want to thank all the members of the club for making this past year one that I'll never forget.  Your interactions with those in our community and world is awe inspiring – reaching out to high school students in the Stand up For Kinds North Fulton Initiative, connecting with the GRSP (Georgia Rotary Students Program) students during our weekend, talking to visitors how come to our meeting, answering the call when a fellow Rotarian identifies a need within our local community, responding to a disaster around the world.

You all make the Rotary Club of Alpharetta special.

This Friday, in addition to the induction of Sam Gordon as President and the new Board of Directors for the 2011/2012Rotary year, we will be presenting a number of Paul Harris Awards.  If you are a Paul Harris Fellow, please wear your Paul Harris pin and welcome the new horonees.

July 4 Fund Raiser

  • Thank you for the support offered last week for helping Mary Ulich opening and sorting the glow items on Friday, July 1 – we have all the hands we need.
  • We need additional folks for the evening of July 4 from approximately 7 PM to 9:30 PM selling the glow items prior to the City's fireworks display.  Please contact Mary for more information.

Old Soldier's Day – Joel Canada gave his initial announcement of our first club activity of the year – the Old Soldier's Day Parade and picnic.  MARK THE DATE – Saturday, August 6.  If you have a convertible, motor cycle, Hummer or other vehicle that you would like to include in the parade, please see Joel.  This is a great family of Rotary event.  Our traditional cook out in Wills Park follows the parade, additional details to follow as we get closer to the date.
