Alpharetta Rotary Club Welcomes GRSP Student for the 2012-2013 Rotary Year

Alpharetta, Ga. -- August 10, 2012 -- On Saturday, August 11, 2012 the Alpharetta Rotary Club along with the Windward and Sandy Springs Rotary Clubs will welcome Christine Pedersen from Denmark as the new Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) student for the coming year. 

The GRSP program offers scholarships to international students to come to the U.S. and study at the university level in the state of Georgia for one academic year. The program was started in 1946 after WWII and aims to promote world peace and understanding through the means of education.

Christine is 19 years old and recently graduated high school on June 28 in her hometown.  She has never visited the U.S. and says that she is looking forward to her time here. Christine will live in Georgia for one year and attend Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga. while staying with host families. Until the school year starts, Rotarians will host her in their own homes. 

 “I am excited to share in the excitement of Christine’s first visit to the U.S. and look forward to her experiencing the warm hospitality Rotarians have to offer GRSP students,” stated Bill Weeks, President of the Rotary Club of Alpharetta.
