The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a multi-district, grassroots leadership development program of member districts organized into regional divisions in various parts of the world. While, RLI is not an official program of Rotary International, it seeks to provide a quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills for voluntary organizations. The Institute offers a leadership development program in three full day sessions where each course requires approximately seven hours to complete.

The course curriculum is developed by RLI, not Rotary International, and offers a interactive approach to learning as opposed to a lecture seminar. While the name implies emphasis on leadership, RLI provides an in depth look at the many facets of Rotary and is aimed at all Rotarians. Attendees range from first year members to over 20 year veterans of Rotary.

Courses must be taken in sequence - Part 1, Part 2 and then Part 3. Once you have taken Part 3, you are considered a RLI graduate and entitled to register for the more advanced graduate courses. Registration for each course is $95. This fee includes breakfast, lunch, course material, and lots of Rotary fellowship.

Three Alpharetta Rotarians recently attended Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) training sessions. Mary Ulich and Eric Douglas completed Part 1 class in Macon earlier this month while Chris Weeber completed Part 3 in Roswell last month. Karen Nolan, Heather Demis, and Steve Gillard have also completed Part 1. Steve Corder is a Part 3 graduate from last year. Please see any of the above or a board member to hear more about the RLI experience.

The RLI schedule for the 2012-2013 Rotary year is currently being established. For more information please see the RLI website at http://www.rlitraining.org/
