ImageThe Rotary Club of Alpharetta recently donated 1500 books to the Ed Isakson/Alpharetta Family YMCA after school program as one of their Rotary projects for Literacy program.

Book donations included picture books for babies, Early Readers (1st and 2nd grade), Chapter Books for 3rd – 8th grades, classics such as Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Peter Pan, Treasure Island, Harry Potter, Nancy Drew and Black Beauty, young adult/suspense books, juvenile fiction, how-to and craft books as well as science fiction, non-fiction, and educational series books. Gayle Battersby said, “I was very excited when approached by Heather Demis about this Literacy Project. With over 1,500 books donated, we will be able to enhance our libraries at every Y after school program.  With new books comes new excitement about reading? Thanks Alpharetta Rotary!” The Ed Isakson/Alpharetta Family YMCA has 29 after school programs, serving over 1800 children after school in the North Fulton area. 

“To support literacy development in Alpharetta, we are glad to donate books to the Alpharetta YMCA,” said Bill Weeks, President of the Rotary Club of Alpharetta.
