home depot

This week Ron Jarvis, Vice President of Environmental Innovation/Sustainability/SER and Chairman of the Environmental Council of Home Depot presented a great summary of Home Depot's worldwide effort to improve sustainability within the products it sells.  The program is based on detailed knowledge of environmental conditions within the forests and other resources around the world.  Home Depot is partnering with environmentalists to achieve the best possible carbon footprint for its business.

After several generations of leadership, Home Depot's executive corps has evolved a management strategy that operates on a simple principle of "push simplicity down, push complexity up", which has dramatically improved Home Depot's operating performance.  As a policy, every officer in the company works in-store for a period of time to make sure they have a good feel for the line level business.
