We have several opportunities for our members to get involved with Rotary over the next few months.  Starting with our Special Pops Tennis outing on March 8th.  If you play tennis and would like to help us with this event please contact Heather Demis or Jack Housman.  This is an afternoon round-robin tennis event where you will partner with a special needs player (some are really good tennis players) at Country Club of the South.  On March 15th Chris Weeber will lead the charge down Old Milton Parkway with our Adopt a Mile Campaign picking up trash and helping to beautify our city.  Bring your spouse bring your kids its always a great time and great cause.  On March 29th the Rotary District our club belongs to is District 6900 and they put on a once a year assembly in Columbus, GA.  We carpool down for the day and attend various presentations about what we are doing as a district and share ideas with other clubs.  If you have the least inclination to learn more about what Rotary is all about this is a great opportunity.  If you have any questions please come see me or give me a call.

In April we have our biggest event for the year in District 6900 and that is our District Conference.  This will be held this year in Destin Florida (San Destin) April 25- 27th.  This is a chance to celebrate with members of our club and the other clubs in our District.  For those of you who have attended in the past I don’t have to tell you because you keep coming back but for those who have not let me offer you this.  You can attend as much or as little as you want of the different programs being offered.  Come down and take a few days of vacation and see what it is all about on your terms.  Before I went to my first DC I had visions of being stuck in boring meetings all weekend and force fed Rotary but turns out it was nothing like that. We will have our own hospitality suite set up so complimentary drinks and snacks will be available all weekend as well.  We also have the honor of running the registration desk this year so if you do come we could use some help for an hour or two checking other Rotarians into the convention.  Please give it some thought and feel free to see me to discuss further and answer any of your questions.

If you have been in Rotary for very long you know there is much more coming down the pike so stay tuned.

Yours in Rotary,

Dan
