Attention Alpharetta Rotarians!
Yes that means you!  I need everyone to listen up for a minute.  The next three weeks are mission critical for our club.  The first thing we have is our annual back to school backpack drive where $20 gives a child in need a new backpack filled with the necessary school supplies for the year and a Rotary logo on the backpack offering recognition for our club.  Please bring any and all donations you can pull together from friends, family colleagues etc. by next Friday August 3rd.  You can give them to me or Heather Demis.  I understand this is coming at the same time as the BIG fund raiser but we can’t change the fact that school starts when it does, and the timing of the race that was moved back this year, so just do what you can.  This is completely voluntary.

Now for the BIG fund raiser- The Alpharetta Rotary Mayors Challenge on August 17th.  I continue to be amazed at what Ted, Eric and the rest of the committee have done to pull this race together while they take it to a new level.  We are still looking for more sponsors but we will be going to print soon for the signs and t-shirts so if you have somebody in mind please contact Ted or Eric this week. If you are not comfortable with asking someone to sponsor but think they may be a good candidate call Ted or Eric as they will be happy to ask on your behalf.

OK now raffle tickets.  Yes raffle tickets.  It is a vital part of our fund raiser at this time and this year we have great prizes that should be easy to sell.  Steve Gillard is working on his third batch of tickets.  It also gives an equal opportunity for everyone to play a part in raising the money needed to do the projects our club engages in.   If selling tickets is not your thing no worries you can purchase them yourself or we can add a $200 one time charge to your dues.  This is about as fair as we can be.  Also, keep in mind this is our one time a year fund raiser.  The past boards of directors over the years have done a good job at keeping this to a one time a year event and not hit you up several times a year.

Keep your eyes open for sign up sheets to fill volunteer roles the day of the event.  We encourage you to solicit the help of spouses and children who can not only help carry the load but it gives them an insight to what we do.

Yours in Rotary,

Dan
