Well this day has come and it's time for one of my last weekly messages as your club president.  There is no doubt we had one of our greatest years as a club and I have all of you to thank for that as it was a major effort by a lot of people.   For me to have served as your president these last 12 months I want to say I am very honored and humbled by your support and encouragement.  I am not going to lie to you - it’s a lot of work but I will say it quickly became a labor of love.  When I started the year I was quickly reminded of a poem by Mother Teresa titled “Anyway.”  This poem  has been on my desk for so many years I can’t remember and from time to time it gets shuffled into a file by accident or winds up on the bottom of a “to do “ pile but it's never far away.  These words couldn’t be more true as we carry out the mission of Rotary.  I apologize if I used this in a prior message (I think I have written 50) but it's worth seeing again… anyway!!

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway

Mother Teresa

See you all Friday.

Yours in Rotary,

Dan
