President's Message - June 6, 2014

As I sit here at my desk writing this week’s Rotary message thousands of Rotarians from around the world are fast asleep in Sidney Australia attending the Rotary International Convention.  I know this because I have clients in Australia so I monitor the time(14 hours ahead of us)  when I am contemplating a call to their office.  The international convention, which I attended last year in Lisbon, is a powerful place when it comes to awareness of the magnitude of this organization.  As Mike Lowry mentioned last week when he pitch hit for me on this message we are Rotarians for a reason.  As President Elect Karen Nolan, DG Blake, DGE Alicia and DGN Bob will wake up in a few hours to a day full of Rotary networking and the exchange of ideas maybe we can do some of that ourselves right here. 
 
Since we are in the slowest part of the Rotary year I am going to challenge each of you to do something.  Grab one of your friends in our club and go visit another club.  Maybe while at the beach take a break and attend a local Rotary meeting.  We all need make-ups so that’s a bonus but we can also get some fresh ideas and reaffirm some we have already implemented.  Feel free to bring back your thoughts and share them with the new board.  Here are the clubs and meeting info for the clubs in N Fulton but feel free to hit the road.
