Dan

This weekend is our annual GRSP (Georgia Rotary Student Program) weekend.  Basically this weekend the college kids from all over the world who are being hosted in Georgia by Rotary Clubs all come together for a weekend of fun and fellowship.  Many of you have participated in the past and I don’t need to remind you how cool this event is.  For those of you who have not taken part I am going to give you some opportunities this weekend to spend some time with some really neat college kids form all over the world.  Our GRSP Chairman John Norton has coordinated this event for many years and once again he has done a great job of pulling this all together.

How do you get involved?  John needs a couple more of you to volunteer to host a student (s) which means they sleep at your house Friday night.  Guest room, couch, floor space all work fine.  This is a family event where you and your family get to meet and spend some time with a college student from a different country and a different culture.  If you think you can help out and/or if you have any questions please let me know and I will put you in touch with John Norton or contact John directly (770-851-6149).

Friday night you are all invited to join the GRSP students and host families at the home of Sandy Springs Rotarian Fran Farias for registration and a chili dinner followed by a bond fire until around 8:30 when you will depart and take the student to your home for the night.

Saturday morning we will ask the students to be at the Alpharetta YMCA by 8:30 am so they can catch a bus at 9 am which will take them to the World of Coke and the Aquarium.  If you would like to continue on downtown (you may need to follow in your car) and join them you are very welcome or if you need to terminate your involvement at that point your efforts will still be greatly appreciated.  That being said if you are not able to help Friday but would like to jump in at some point on Saturday you can pick up in the morning with the trip into Atlanta for the day or we also need some help preparing dinner for the group when they return to the YMCA starting around 4:30.  A couple more cooks for the grill would be great if you are so inclined or if you just want to come out and have a hamburger and hang out with the students and fellow Rotarians that is an option as well.

The students will spend the night at the Y and depart Sunday morning with some great new friends and memories.  Will you be a part of that?

Yours in Rotary Service,

Dan
