Dan Merkel

We as a club have a lot of exciting events coming up.  As we transition into the tail end of summer, the beginning of school and the Holidays “just around the corner” we start to see a good mix of Rotary fellowship and Rotary projects.  This Friday is our next Rotary after hours where we can sip a drink and get to know your fellow Rotarians and spouses in a casual environment.  This is also an excellent opportunity to invite a friend who may have an interest in Rotary.

Saturday morning Chris Weeber will be leading any and all volunteers through the Adopt a Mile walk starting at 7:30 am.  Chris has taken on this project for I don’t know how many years now but he has it down to a science.  As we roll into the fall season we have a Sporting Clays Shoot scheduled, shore sweep at Lake Lanier and a Halloween party.  All great fellowship opportunities where we can continue to build on our relationships within the club.

This week in particular we are reminded of where we were and what we were doing on September 11th 2001. The terrorists destroyed many lives that day but they did not destroy our spirit.  If anything they probably strengthened our spirit.  In many ways Rotary strengthens our spirit and with that strength we can go out in the world and change lives.  Let us all say a prayer this week for those who were affected on 9/11 and at the same time as my grandma would say “count our blessings.”

Yours in Rotary Service,

Dan

We never really grow up.  We only learn how to act in public.
