ABOUT STEVE HUDSON

Steve Hudson, a long-time outdoors enthusiast and professional journalist, may have the best of all possible jobs - one that allows him to share the excitement of the out-of-doors with others.

A professional journalist and magazine editor for more than three decades, Steve has written extensively on hiking, fishing, canoeing, travel and other outdoor activities. He has been a member of the journalism faculty at Georgia State University, and he still enjoys working with journalism students every chance he gets.

Steve is founder and editorial director of Chattahoochee Media Group, a company specializing in publishing quality outdoor books for hikers, anglers, fly tyers and other outdoor enthusiasts.

He is also the author of numerous fishing, hiking and outdoor recreation books, including the recently published HIKING THE HOOCH, a guide to the great hiking opportunities available in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

“I have long enjoyed hiking the trails of CRNRA,” Steve says, “but there was no complete guide to its 50-plus miles hiking trails. So I wrote one!”

Steve hiked close to 150 miles in the course of researching and writing this book, mapping each foot of every trail and preparing detailed trail guides to help hikers get the most out of every CRNRA hiking experience.

“I wanted to create a book that would showcase this great recreational resource while at the same time providing the kind of practical and accurate feet-on-the-ground info that hikers need,” he says. “CRNRA really is a national treasure, and there’s no better way to explore it than on foot.”

When not busy writing, Steve is a frequent speaker on hiking, fly fishing, fly tying, and outdoor recreation, having led seminars and workshops from Alaska to Florida.

He also enjoys music. He does “a pretty good job” on the bass guitar. In addition, he is director of handbell choirs at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, where he also heads up a fly fishing-based fellowship program.

Steve has three grown children (and a new grandson too!). He lives in Alpharetta, Ga., with his wife Ann, Zoe the cat, and Chester the Sheepdog.
