Wayne,

The trip was amazing, as you can imagine.  We saw God's hope spread to nearly 200 children and teens.  And the the staff, too, as some of them live in difficult situations themselves.

The lab looked great and was up and running.  They are using it on a regular basis.  It is in a dedicated room, adjacent to the ministry's library, so assistance is available, too.  Plus, development of the ministry's new "City of Hope" location is well under way, and the lab will have a good location in the new facility.  My picture of it did not come out, but if I come across another one I will send it to you.

Thanks,

Mike

After months of planning, minor setbacks, and much perseverance the Hope 4 Guatemala Project has been successfully completed. This success is due in large part to Mike Lowry and his counterpart from Guatemala Rotary Club Norte, Josef Fischer. Together they coordinated a proposal for a "state of the art" computer lab for Hope 4 Guatemala consisting of 12 computers, a server, and a networked printer. Funds from District 6900, our club, and Rotary Club Guatemala Norte made the hardware acquisition possible. Jose Armas and his team from "Hope" had already prepared the lab with work stations and internet access.

Last week Mike, Rick Leaman, and Chris Weeber traveled to Guatemala City to build and install the lab network. Members of the Guatemala Rotary Club, Interact Club and selected children from Hope 4 Guatemala also helped. The lab will be available to the children before or after their half day of public school. The goal is to give the students the opportunity to acquire skills that will provide for a better life.
