On Saturday, October 30, members of our club had the opportunity and privilege of hosting and assisting 200 of our servicemen and servicewomen at the USO at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Most were returning to Afghanistan after a stateside R&R.

William Perkins coordinated the group and Mark Meckes acted as chef, producing a delicious fare of hotdogs, wings, baked beans, slaw, and potato salad that our soldiers appreciated. Other volunteers included President Steve Gillard, Chris Weeber, Chris Lagerbloom, Lynne Riley, Lauri Young, Rory Young, Keith Sanders, Rick Leaman, and John Hipes. Members of the Dunwoody Rotary club were also there and it was a great chance to enjoy fellowship with Rotarians from another club.

We are scheduled to return to the USO on December 30th. This is a great opportunity to perform a rewarding service and meet some wonderful men and women serving our country.
